History Lesson for your Friends…El Dia del Amigo (Friend’s Day) is a holiday held on July 20th in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay. It was invented by Dr. Enrique Febbraro, Argentine teacher, musician and dentist who wanted to honor the one of the highest virtues of the human race: Friendship.
This day is the anniversary of the first man moon landing (The United States’ Apollo 11, July 20/1969). An event that united the whole world, every nation and every man shared a common hope. The whole world became friends friends of the three astronauts about to land on the moon.
Dia del Amigo is not a bank holiday, but it’s a very popular event during which friends gather and greet each other. What’s better excuse to come together and have a nice time?
