In honor of the worldwide celebration of sushi, we urge you to get together with family and friends and enjoy sashimi, maki, and all sushi based food! The day honoring the Japanese cuisine was created thanks to Facebook and has been celebrated on June the 18th ever since 2009. Now, with more than 1.75 million fans, Sushi Facebook page made Sushi Day a worldwide food celebration, and turned into an official event when it entered the Chase’s calender of events in 2011 (the most authentic and known calender of worldwide events and festivals).
A brief history of Sushi
In the 7th century fish was imported to Japan from China. Back then with no refrigerators to keep food from rotting, people used fermentation in order to conserve fish during long journeys. The best way to do that was by covering fish with salt and rice. Afterwards it was transformed into the sushi we know today and became a local specialty. It has been gaining international recognition in recent years and the sushi craze in Buenos Aires has only just begun.
