If you haven’t heard of it before now, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon. The latest lunch obsession in offices and homes throughout Buenos Aires is the tiny phenom known as Marfa, and let’s just say it merits a few words. Operating from a small yet cozily designed café in Palermo Hollywood, the folks at Marfa offer an array of delicious and unique lunchtime delights, including wraps, sandwiches, and salads.
Their salads are fresh and varied, a far cry from the dull Argentine lettuce-tomato-onion standard. Try the chicken and avocado salad with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, chicken strips, mozzarella, avocado, croutons, and parmesan cheese for just 23 pesos. Marfa sandwiches come on fresh French bread and include only the highest quality ingredients. For a gourmet lunch we suggest ordering the Brie Chicken sandwich, with tender chicken strips, fresh Brie cheese, sweet caramelized onions, and a home-made pesto sauce. The wraps are generally considered the stars of the show, including the barbecue chicken wrap, chicken bacon wrap, and smoked salmon wrap. Ranging in price from 18 to 24 pesos, these yummy lunches are easy on the wallet as well as the taste buds.
They also have a whole range of vegetarian burger options, including a carrot burger, broccoli and red pepper burger, and a lentil and squash burger. They might sound strange, but for a vegetarian in Buenos Aires, these burgers are a godsend. For dessert you can’t miss the chocolate cake, recently featured on the cover of Buenos Aires magazine Joy, and a glass of fresh lemonade with basil and ginger will quench your thirst after a long morning.
Delivery hours are Monday through Friday, 11-15:15.
