Fresh! Tasty! Colorful! This is the description you will find on A Toda Madre Carnal’s web site, and we couldn’t think of three better words to describe classic Mexican food. For all those who crave the special kick that only south-of-the-border food can bring, look no further. This Belgrano based restaurant and delivery service with the unique name has filled a gaping hole in BA cuisine…delicious traditional Mexican fare such as burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas, as well as salads, soups, drinks, and desserts.
There is a good range of spicy and non-spicy delicacies on the ATMC menu, but for those who enjoy real Mexican zest, we recommend the extra spicy Enchiladas “A Toda Madre Carnal,” which feature freshly-made tortillas stuffed with grilled beef, red peppers, sour cream, fresh salsa, and a fiery red sauce. The three quesadilla options (beef, vegetarian, chicken) are also excellent choices, and at only 20 pesos they’re quite a steal. For those who want a lighter option, consider the appropriately named Colorful Salad. With corn, green peppers, avocado, radish, cheese, carrots, sour cream, and tortilla strips, this rainbow of a dish is absolutely divine. Sides include salsa and chips, beans, or perfectly seasoned Mexican rice.
As for the name, the restaurant tells us that “A toda madre” is a common saying in Mexico that means “Cool!” or “Awesome!” The “Carnal” part is slang for friend or amigo, so put them together and you have the Mexican version of “Totally awesome, dude!”
